Coaches encouraged to create team page and report scores this season.

The MHCA has partnered with Legacy Hockey (legacy.hockey) to provide teams, players, coaches and fans in-depth coverage and stats of Minnesota boys' high school hockey.

Teams from around the state have a dedicated page on the site for their schedules, rosters and statistics. And, in a first for high school hockey coverage, Legacy Hockey will provide nightly roundups highlighting top matchups from around the state as well as standout individual performances and milestones reached by teams, coaches and players. A weekly podcast, dedicated entirely to boys’ high school hockey, is also planned.

"Legacy Hockey will serve as the MHCA's official news and statistics website for the 2021-22 Minnesota boys' high school hockey season," said MHCA Executive Director Mike MacMillan.

"The MHCA executive board is excited about our new partnership and another opportunity to deliver the message of High School Hockey in the State of Hockey," said Mike Taylor, President of MHCA.

The 2021-22 MSHSL boys' hockey season officially begins on Wednesday, November 24.

“I’ve had nothing but great experiences working with the coaches association while covering high school hockey for the last decade-plus,” said Nelson, who has been a sports journalist for more than 30 years, has covered the last 13 Minnesota State Hockey Tournaments and is the co-author of "Tourney Time," a compilation of stories from the first 75 years of the Minnesota State Hockey Tournament.

“I’m thrilled to have the chance to not only ramp up the daily coverage but also do a lot of the same type of storytelling that has been so well-received in the Tourney Time book,” Nelson said.
