High School Hockey Coaches:

The Minnesota Wild announced a new high school hockey program at the Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit this past summer – the High School Hockey Captains Spotlight Program.  The program will honor two high school hockey captains (one male and one female) per month, November – March.   Candidates are chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrates a passion for the sport of hockey
  • Exemplifies leadership and hard work on the ice and in the classroom
  • Exhibits qualities of a good teammate
  • Contributes to their local community
  • Goes above and beyond to help create a greater State of Hockey

Alex Hange of Hutchinson High School and Jake Wacek of Totino Grace High School were selected as November’s honorees.  Alex and Jake will both receive two tickets to the Minnesota Wild - Boston Bruins game on Thursday, April 4, a custom Wild jersey and will be highlighted on the video board and on Wild social media the day of the game.

We are in need of more nominees and are hopeful you will consider nominating one or more of your captains for this award.  Please click on the link below to learn more about the program and submit your nomination.
